Never in my life have I seen God so clearly at work in so many different ways as I have since taking on the role of Headmaster of Cornerstone Academy in the summer of 2006. It is a pure joy and honor to have been called to serve in this manner, at this time, and in this place. Cornerstone Academy is a Christ-centered and classical school.
As a Christ-centered school, we are dedicated to building within our students a solid foundation based on biblical principles and philosophy, incorporating into each student a biblical worldview. Colossians 2:2b-3 says it well, “…that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they
may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures if wisdom and knowledge.” First and foremost, we want each student to know Christ, the source of all wisdom, in a very personal way. Further, we equip them with the intellectual and spiritual tools to become leaders of their generation, making decisions that positively impact culture and bring honor and glory to God.
As a classical school, we are fully committed to academic excellence. We believe that utilizing the tried and true classical approach to education will prepare individuals who can think logically, analyze and understand the culture in which they live, and grasp God’s calling on them as
believers living within that culture. There are many great methods of teaching available today, but I personally believe that the classical approach is the most effective way to educate students. It progresses naturally with the student through his/her development from childhood to adolescence and then through the teenage years. Some of history’s greatest minds such as Augustine, Aristotle, Galileo, Isaac Newton, and Thomas Jefferson were classically trained. Over 200 classical and Christian schools have emerged in the United States over the past 25 years, and the test results of their students are exceptional.
Every day I come to work I see the end product – the future graduates of Cornerstone
Academy. I see them having an outstanding base of knowledge, a solid biblical foundation, the ability to think critically and understand why they believe what they believe, and the acumen to articulate their thoughts and views with clarity and grace. As a parent, this is what I desire for my children.
In closing, I hope and pray that you will see the heart and soul of the school. The future is bright for Cornerstone Academy! We continue to seek God’s purpose and glory revealed in this calling. If I can be of service to you, please call me or feel free to come by and see me.
Soli Deo Gloria,
Daniel Peterson
